DADDY
WAS A SPACEMAN
© Woodstock Taylor 2000
My
Daddy knew about things
He dined with beggars and he feasted with kings
Entertained for hours
But nobody suspected he had magical powers
Yeh, he could
Transmit a message to a toy telephone
And once he showed me a spaceship heading for home
but strangely, no-one took me seriously when I told them
that my Daddy was a spaceman.
He was pretty much cool
He didn't tend to interfere as a rule
He went his own way
But I lived for the moments when he came out to play
cause he could
Transmit a message
to a toy telephone
And once he showed me a spaceship heading for home
but strangely, no-one took me seriously when I told them
that my Daddy was a spaceman.
He
was a spaceman too...
Oh the mysteries he showed me
when i was just six years old
he took me to a special place
and showed me lights from outer space
He knew how to fly
It's kind of handy when you live in the sky
He's up there now
but I know one day we'll be together somehow
and he will
transmit me a message to my toy telephone
and beam me up to that spaceship heading for home
and I'll be laughing as I wave at you,
I'll say, I told you
that my Daddy was a spaceman.
He was a spaceman too....
