Is this going to be another year of getting by on next to nothing,
One more year of telling myself things are going to change?
This is not the way it was supposed to turn out when I planned it;
What was all that stuff about a brilliant career?
It's all right; something's going to turn up tomorrow.

I know they say the road to hell is paved with good intentions;
What about the people who get crushed along the way?
Optimistic outlooks are fine if you can afford to have them;
Principles and positivity don't pay the bills
But it's all right; something's going to turn up tomorrow.

Well, you can make me bankrupt, sign along the line,
Take away equipment that was never really mine,
You can make me homeless, steal my dignity,
Take anything you want, you'll never get me.

Is this going to be another year of broken resolutions -
Mine to them, and theirs to me that things are going to change?
This is not the way it was supposed to turn out when I planned it;
Maybe if I push a little harder things'll move,
